Pausing to Inhale June 15 2025

I had a blog drafted earlier this week. It was one I started three years ago when I turned 60 and then shelved. I dusted it off this week, prepared a draft, and even introduced the general concept at my classes this morning.

Then it was Father's Day and Luke (my son) and I made brunch for Peter. I worked on the blog for a few minutes, but then went to see my mom (92) to go for a walk and spend some time when the sun came out. I came home to try again, but then Peter asked me to go and see his mom, Rita. Arriving home this evening, I have decided that sometimes you just need to say, 'Ok, today was all about appreciating and loving family, and guess what, the world will still spin on its axis if I do not present you, my lovely yogis, with a new blog today.'

So I will leave you, the community of Rockbriar Farm, with this thought. While writing and sharing our experiences with each other is wonderful, sometimes just being in that moment, being with family, breathing, sharing, moving is our yoga. If I have learned anything through my practice, it is sometimes you must let go of expectations and timelines, especially the artificial ones you set for yourself. Spontaneity is a catalyst for joy and we cannot miss those opportunities. These times are precious and inspirational to me in my practice and in my writing. This too is our yoga.

Whether you practice with me in person or on Zoom, read my blog or just check in once in a while, I honor you with gratitude and thanks for being part of my community.

I found the following quote inspirational, had it as part of a future blog, but want to share it with you this week:

“Always do your best. Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.” ~ Don Miguel Ruiz, The Four Agreements
